Introduction:
Hello I’m Zaikyu and this is my first Mod which I have deemed GeoCraft. GeoCraft is an attempt to add a spark of realism to minecraft while making it slightly more challenging. It adds many more blocks to the game most of them being new types of stone. In the theme of realism it adds a new rock layer around the 25th block height the stone starts transitioning to a new block modeled after the real stone granite. This granite is harder than the current stone and requires a iron pickaxe or higher to harvest. This now mean Diamond, Redstone and Lapis Lazuli all are now found in granite. All other ores have been adjusted to only spawn on higher levels than this. Many other blocks also have been added such as Marble, Red Clay, Slate, Basalt, White Granite and one block I will keep as a secret. All the new Blocks have there own hardness levels that will vary depending on the real life hardness (ie: Granite and Basalt are quite hard while Marble and Slate are weaker).
Beside the new rock layer generation there also is special generation for marble in large deposits above the granite level and White Granite in the granite level. Granite can also spawn in deposits above it’s own level as well. Shale will spawn below water around sea level. Red Clay and gravel will now spawn underneath dirt around the sea level. The large random deposits of gravel near water has been changed to cobble stone with the chance of mossy cobble stone mixed in, To produce a more rocky weathered river bed look which I believe was originally intended. Basalt is now created when lava meets water instead of cobblestone and around lava pools naturally.
A few new recipes have been added for clay. You can bow make a clay bowl and put it into a furnace to bake it into a usable bowl. With the new type of clay comes with its own times of bricks and brick blocks, Including a mix between the two.

Granite and White Granite – Granite is a common hard igneous rock. It is found on the bottom 25 layers of the world and can also be generated in large deposits at any height. White Granite can only be found in large deposits around layer 25 and below. Can only be mined with Iron tools and above, its quite hard and has decent blast resistance.
Quick Sand - Quick sand can spawn anywhere there there is sand and has about the same spawn rate as diamonds. It is usually spawned in a medium sized deposit. WARNING! You can suffocate in it if you sink too far! Harvested with a shovel. Only spawns in desert biomes.
Basalt - Basalt is a hard igneous rock formed from lava flows. Lava now hardens into Basalt instead of cobblestone, also found around lava pools. Can only be mined with Iron tools and above, its quite hard and has decent blast resistance.
Shale – Shale is a flaky layered sedimentary rock. Shale is found in medium sized deposits under/near water around sea level. Shale is a fairly weak rock and can be crafted with 9 fint. [Future plans: turn shale into a half block]
Marble – Marble is a metamorphic version of limestone. Marble can be found anywhere in limestone in large deposits. Marble is only slightly stronger than limestone, and can only be mined with stone/copper tools and above.
Red Clay – New form of clay that forms under dirt around sea level. Can be used the same as normal clay which is now referred to as gray clay.
Bricks – Red clay and Gray clay can now form two different colored brick blocks and can mixed using alternating brick items on creation.
Lapis Lasuli, Diamond, Redstone - Are now only found in granite so their backgrounds and hardness now reflect this change.
Limestone, Cobble, Mossy - Stone has now been changed to limestone but all stats are the same.
Coal, Iron, Gold - Have now all been changed to spawn above granite, and has a limestone background
Sandstone – Sandstone is now a new block of my creation, it spawns as is before under sand but in greater quantities. You can still make the old sandstone the same as before but it is renamed as sandstone bricks.
Gneiss - Bedrock has been changed to a very hard metamorphic igneous rock, texture changed. Still unbreakable.
Other changes:
Cobblestone, Mossy, Gravel – Large deposits of gravel on the surface (mostly near water) have been changed to cobble stone for a rocky riverbed effect. Has a chance to create a Mossy cobblestone mixed in.
Gravel – Now forms under dirt around sea level like Red clay.
Underground Dirt and Gravel – underground deposits over these materials have been decreased in size and amount as well as only spawns higher than Granite.
Clay Bowl - Can be made with the normal bowl pattern using either type raw clay balls. Once baked in a furnace it turns into a normal empty bowl.
Heavy Metal Update: Iron and Gold - Have now changed to drop iron and gold ore item instead of an ore blocks. These ores can be smelted into ingots just as before.
Copper - Copper ore has been added. It can be found around layers 55 to 100. Copper is fairly common but in small deposits. Copper ore can be melting into ingots and made into blocks same as other metals. [ Future: Copper will be used in ReTool to make the tools to replace stone tool level ]
Tin – Tin ore has been added. It can be found around layers 20 to 30. Tin is fairly rare and forms in small deposits.
Bronze – Bronze can be made by combing a Tin ingot and a block of Copper and then smelted. This is temporary a better/harder way to get Bronze will be made in a future update. [ Future: Bronze will be used in ReTool to make the tools to above iron tool level ]
Steel – Steel can be made by combing a coal and a block of Iron and then smelted. This is temporary a better/harder way to get Steel will be made in a future update. [ Future: Steel will be used in ReTool to make the tools to above bronze tool level ]
Iron Rods – Iron Rods are a metal form of sticks. Crafted with two iron ingots producing 4 rods. Iron fences can by made the same way as wooden ones with iron rods. [ Future: Iron Rods will be used in ReTool to make the tools for the Bronze/Steel/Diamond tool levels ]

Other changes:
Gravel, Sand, Dirt, Clay – Had their hardness increased very slightly to make using shovels more useful.
Iron Ore - Changed to spawn less but in slightly bigger deposits. Because of the decrease in layers for it to spawn in.
Coal Ore – Changed to spawn slightly less. Because of the decrease in layers for it to spawn in.
